Obituary

Dr. Henry John Fox, age 83 of Fairfield, retired radiologist, husband for 56 years of Madeleine G. Fox, died on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at St. Vincent's Medical Center.  Born in Bridgeport on May 15, 1925, he was the son of Henry P. and Catherine Sullivan Fox.  Dr. Fox was a graduate of St. Charles School and Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, where, as he repeatedly shared with anyone who would listen, he had the starring role as Frederic in the 1943 production of "Pirates of Penzance."  He served with the United States Army during World War II.  Dr. Fox graduated from Georgetown University and Georgetown University Graduate School in Chemistry, where he was a Teaching Assistant.  He was a graduate of Drexel University (Hahnemann) School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa.  After serving his internship at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport, he completed his residency in Radiology as a Pendergrass Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Medicine in Philadelphia.  He also served as an instructor in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. In 1956, he joined the practice of Drs. Robert D. Russo, Sr. and John C. Olsavsky.  He was a Staff Radiologist at St. Vincent's Medical Center, and for many years practiced at Russo Associates office at 2660 Main Street, retiring in 2001.  At St. Vincent's Medical Center, he served on the Executive Committee, and Medical Records and Audit Committees, and as a Member and Chairman of the Staff Nominating Committee for many years.  He was a Diplomat and Fellow of the American College of Radiology, a member of the Radiological Society of North America, a Councilor and President of the Radiological Society of Connecticut, a member of the Society for Breast Imaging, the American Medical Association, the Connecticut State Medical Society, Fairfield County Medical Society and the Bridgeport Medical Society.  He was a long-time member of the Algonquin Club and Brooklawn Country Club. In addition to his wife, Madeleine, he is survived by his children, daughter Madeline (Lin) of Fairfield; sons Thomas and Kevin of Stratford; son Michael and his wife, Karen, of Trumbull; daughter Mary and her husband Martin Isaac, also of Trumbull; and grandchildren Jessica, Nicole and Daniel Isaac and Emily Fox, all of Trumbull.  He also is survived by his sister, Lillian Wood of Southport, his brother, Dr. Edward F. Fox of Bristol, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 2, 2008 at 10 a.m. meeting directly in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 149 South Pine Creek Road, Fairfield. Interment will be announced. Friends may call Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
