Dr. James F. Walsh III, M.D. a resident of Easton, Connecticut died Friday, September 24, 2010 at St. Vincent's Medical Center.  Dr. Walsh, the oldest of seven children, was born November 14, 1924 to Dr. James F. Walsh and Genevieve Powers Walsh in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  He attended Beardsley Grammar School and Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut graduating with honors in 1941.  He went on to attend Yale University studying Pre-Med for 1 year before being drafted into the Army during World War II.  The Army sent him for 1 year to Cornell University to complete his undergraduate education and he went on to attend medical school at the NYU School of Medicine.  In 1945, while still in medical school, he was released from the army and went on to earn his medical degree from the NYU School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at French Hospital in New York City and in 1949, he married Frances Cecelia Tracey of Nashua, New Hampshire. Following completion of his residency, he was drafted once again by the Army for the Korean War and spent 2 Years in Urology with the 98th General Army Hospital in Munich, Germany achieving the rank of Captain until he was again discharged from the Army.  Upon returning from Germany, he began practicing medicine with privileges at St. Vincent's Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Milford Hospital.  He was Chief of Urology at St Vincent's Medical Center for many years, as well as being appointed to a professorship at the Yale School of Medicine and was still a member of the staff at St. Vincent's Hospital until his passing. He is survived by his wife Frances Walsh, his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Lisa Walsh of Moorpark, California, his son and daughter-in-law James and Nancy Walsh of Lewisberry, Pennsylvania, his grandson Sean Walsh, his sister Mary Jane Hughes of Norwalk, Connecticut, his brother Thomas Walsh of Milford, Connecticut, his sister Genevieve Walsh of Bridgeport, Connecticut, his brother and sister-in-law John and Mayor Joan Walsh of Harrison, New York and his sisters-in-law Ellen Walsh and Joyce Walsh.  He was predeceased by his brother Robert Walsh of Scarsdale, New York and William Walsh of Milford, Connecticut.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Friday at 11:00AM in Notre Dame of Easton Church, 640 Morehouse Road, Easton.  Interment will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery at a later date.  There will be no calling hours.
