Obituary

James P. White Jr. age 72 of Shelton passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in his home. He was the beloved husband for 48 years of Patricia McCreery White. Born in Providence, RI, Jim grew up in Fairfield and attended Fairfield Prep and Fairfield University. A favorite among his many activities at Prep was baseball where he is still remembered for hitting two grand slams and driving in 10 runs in one game.  At Fairfield University, Jim (aka Whitey or Red) stood out for his many leadership roles including class officer, chairing Winter Weekend, announcing basketball games, and playing in his own band. After graduation from Fairfield, Jim received his LLB from Fordham Law School and became a member of the CT Bar in 1967.  Jim had his own law firm for many years before joining Pullman & Comley where he practiced law for almost 30 years, specializing in commercial real estate. A long time resident of Monroe, Jim worked hard for the Jaycees, Republican town committee, and various commissions, and spent many years as the town attorney. He especially loved coaching his son in Monroe Little League baseball. Moving next to Shelton, Jim continued to be an involved citizen, joining the Shelton Economic Development Corp. on the Board of Directors. Jim loved life in an active manner. His first joy was always being with his family, raising Kristin and Devin with Pat and then finding such great joy with his grandchildren, Riley and Kelly. A member of Brooklawn Country Club, Jim loved his days on the links with his numerous friends.  And while he loved to travel with Pat, he always tried to bring those golf clubs along. In all of these activities Jim was always known for his intelligence, warmth, caring, and friendship. And as so many said, he was a true gentleman. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife and best friend, Pat, an avid golfer, a world traveler, and an amazing father who always had a story to tell. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving children, son Devin J. White and his wife Meeghan and their children Riley and Kelly of Fairfield, daughter Kristin Albano and her husband Eric of Peabody, MA, and brother John White of Fairfield. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00am meeting directly at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave, Shelton, CT 06484 with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call Monday 4-7pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
