Obituary

Jared Arthur Levine, age 36 of Stratford died peacefully in his sleep with his loving canine companions, Yankee and Lakota by his side. Born at Yale New Haven Hospital on January 21, 1980 he was the miracle baby for his adoring parents, Robert and Karen Kier Levine. Jared spent the first 5 years of his life at Cedar Beach in Milford, clamming, fishing, boating and building sandcastles especially with his Nana. There began his never ending love of nature. He was a Cub Scout, Explorer Scout and member of Stratford Pal. He graduated Bunnell High School, Class of 1998 with honors and at 15 years old passed the written and practical exams to become an E.M.T. at the age of 16, one of four in his graduating class to do so. He was an E.M.T. for 5 years receiving the Florence Silvestri Award from the Town of Stratford for Bravery.  During a gap year between high school and college he served as a volunteer fireman in Nichols. Jared completed two years at Sacred Heart University and wanted to become a carpenter. He followed his dream of becoming a Master Craftsman. After apprenticing with several craftsmen he opened his own home improvement business, until two years ago when an untimely car accident curtailed his career. He was a kind and loving spirit who has moved on to a better world. Jared would never hesitate to help a friend or animal in need and was a volunteer at the Audubon in Fairfield, Trumbull Animal Shelter and TAG. He loved going for hikes at Roosevelt Forest, target shooting at a local range and fishing with his Dad.. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his parents he is survived by his aunt Denise Winer of New Jersey, Godmother Elaine Rifkin of Trumbull, several cousins and many loving friends he made along the way. He was predeceased by his loving grandparents, Arthur (Bubby) and Barbara O.B. Kier and Aaron and Anita (Nana) Levine. Jared's parents hope that those who wish to join them in sending him to a better place and celebrating Jared's short life, well lived, will meet on Wednesday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00am in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Middlebrooks Avenue, Trumbull with Shoran Piper – Clan Mother of the Golden Hill Paugussett Tribal Nation officiating.  As Jared would have wished, please wear blue jeans and a baseball cap in his memory! There may be a Memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Animal Rescue Shelter of your choice or donate to your local shelter.
