Jean M. Higgins, age 86, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at The Bridges by Epoch, surrounded by care and comfort.

She was the beloved widow of William Higgins Jr. Born in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, on December 6, 1939, Jean was the daughter of the late John and Stella (Falkowski) Sembrot.

Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy was time spent with her family. Jean and her husband Bill shared a love of travel and adventure, journeying together throughout the Caribbean and to Alaska. They proudly owned and operated Greenstreets Restaurant in St. Augustine, Florida, before returning to Connecticut in 2018. A dedicated Catholic, Jean was active in her faith and served as an usher while living in St. Augustine.

Jean is survived by her children, Barbara Jean Baldyga Festini of Shelton and Thomas Baldyga Jr. and his wife Pam of Fairfield; her cherished grandchildren, Zachary Festini, and Julia and Carly Baldyga; and her stepchildren, Robin Nagy, Jeannie Horan and her husband Bob, and William Higgins and his wife Jennifer. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, all of whom she held close to her heart.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas Baldyga Sr.; her brother, John Sembrot; her sister, Barbara Chockey; and her beloved dog, Foxy. Jean’s dear sister, Eleanor, passed peacefully just three days after Jean, a testament to their lifelong bond.

Jean’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the kind and compassionate staff at The Bridges by Epoch in Trumbull for the exceptional care, comfort, and compassion shown to her during her time as a resident.

Friends are invited to go directly to St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Road, Trumbull, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. for a celebration of her life and Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a favorite charity, in Jean’s loving memory.
