Jean O'Malley (Nelson) McKenna, daughter of John and Anne O'Malley age 89 of Bridgeport passed away on December 22, 2011 with her family by her side. A lifelong resident of Bridgeport, Jean grew up in Black Rock and graduated from Bassick High School in 1939. She married her first love, a naval aviator, Donald Nelson in 1945. They moved and spent most of their life together in Michigan where they raised their three sons. Predeceased by her husband Donald, Jean moved back to Bridgeport where she married Paul McKenna. Predeceased by Paul, Jean remained with her family in Bridgeport. Jean, a loving mother, spent most of her time with her family. She also was an avid golfer and bridge player and enjoyed outdoor activities. In her later years she was very involved in organizing class reunions and spending time with her friends. Jean was also predeceased by her two sisters, Anne and Ruth. Survivors include her three devoted sons, Jack Nelson, Donald Nelson, and his wife Susan, and Paul Nelson, all of Bridgeport, her nephew Robert Herman and his wife Patricia of Oxford, three nieces, Linda Halliday and her husband, Jim of Manassas, Maureen Hencsei and her husband Stephen of Bridgeport and Patricia Doss and her husband Greg of Stratford. Jean was also survived by her great nieces and nephew, Andrew and Kelly Halliday and Kayla and Kristen Hencsei. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30am in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery Stratford.
