Obituary

Jerilyn Sedelnik, Jeri (Auntie Mame) age 73 of Bridgeport, CT made the spiritual journey to a higher level on Monday, June 20, 2016 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport. Her devoted sister Judy Williams, her family and friends were by her side before, during, and after her transition. Jeri had been fighting complications from surgery and cancer when she was taken. Jeri was born November 26th 1942 to John and Rusty Sedelnik. She shared her childhood with her sister. Jeri was a veteran of the Army, serving between 1960-1962. She worked in General Electric, Westinghouse and retired from the City of Bridgeport. Her positions varied among computer programmer, head of systems designs, IT support and web master. Jeri graduated from Sacred Heart (with a masters in children's education) and attended the University of Bridgeport. She was tough, loving, family driven, loyal to her family and friends, helpful, spoke her mind and was a strong voice and presence in her family. She loved wild animals and her cats, especially Gigi who now awaits for her Mommy to visit one last time. Jeri is finally going to be with her mother (and best friend) Rusty, so Rusty can continue the nagging, and also be with Kathy (Bunny) Lavin (her partner) whom she has eternally missed since her passing, also of cancer. Jeri will likely miss the Heinekens and cigarettes… unless she can find a way to smuggle them in. She is survived by her sister Judy, her two nephews/ surrogate children Kurt Keith of Shelton and Jerry Logan and wife Roseanna of NC, her great nieces and nephews Heather, Nicole, Kurt II, Alec, Jason and wife Nicole, and Matthew, three great grandnephews, Silas, Declan, and Rhys, her cousin Angela and husband Bob Weber, a loving cousin Gary Sedelnik, also other cousins and a countless number of friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses on the 9th floor especially Laura at St Vincent's, who showed exceptional compassion and respect to the family at the end of Jeri's life. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to celebrate Jeri's life on Saturday, July 2nd at 5:00p.m., in the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, conducted by Father John Punnakunnel, Jeri's nephew Kurt J. Keith and Heather Keith will deliver the Eulogy. Heather, Kurt II, and Angela (Dolly) will sing. The family will greet friends following the service until 7:00p.m. To send online condolences please visit www.redgatehennessy.com
