Joan E. Sheflott, age 79, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late James L. Sheflott, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Devon, CT, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mabel Tuttle Schultz and graduated of Bassick High School Class of 1950. Joan lived 30 years in New London before returning to this area and was retired from Electric Boat. She was a devoted communicant of St. Andrew Parish, active with their Friendship Club, served as a Eucharistic Minister and involved with numerous church ministries. Joan was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women. Survivors include a brother, Edward Schultz and wife Josephine of Fairfield, a sister, Irene Elwood and husband James of Bella Vista, AR, two nieces, Cynthia Prater and husband David and Donna Gonzales and husband Victor, four nephews, Jeffrey Schultz, Daniel Elwood and wife Andrea, Michael Elwood and Bryan Elwood and great nieces and nephews, Christopher, Megan, Matthew, Melissa, Luke, and Liana. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 9:15 a.m., from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m., in St. Andrew Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, Groton.
