Joan F. Heller Speer, formerly of Westport and Monroe, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 30, 2015. Joan was born in Bridgeport to Frances Heller and was the widow of Richard Speer. She had a long and successful life with many honors. She received her B.A. from Albertus Magnus, a Masters in History from Fordham University, and a degree in Education from Fairfield University. Joan had a successful business career with Greybar Electric in New York City, where she also studied voice with Estelle Liebling. She returned to Connecticut where she worked at ITT Flygt Corporation and studied piano at the Yale School of Music. Joan was a devout Catholic who lovingly shared her gift of music with friends, the residents of St. Joseph's Manor and most importantly with her family who will forever cherish the joy she brought them. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who were enriched by her love. Joan was very grateful for all of God's blessings and she leaves with love for everyone. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30a.m., from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and at 11:00a.m., in St. Stephen Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial.
