Obituary

John P. Clark, age 81, of Easton, beloved husband of Joan Sebok Clark, passed away on March 4, 2009, at the Birmingham Health Center, Derby. John was born in Bridgeport on October 6, 1927, son of the late Thomas and Delia Flanagan Clark, and was a resident of Easton for 46 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II (occupation of Japan) as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division. John retired from Sikorsky Aircraft in 1992 after 31 years as a tool designer in the manufacturing and engineering department. He was a member of the Gaelic-American Club, the DAV-Fairfield chapter, and the VFW-Post 145. John loved his family, his home, and Irish heritage. He had a smile for everyone and endured his illness of many years with courage and dignity. A great story teller and joker, John enjoyed many activities, some of which were swimming, building and flying model airplanes, and puttering around his home and yard. In addition to his beloved wife Joan of 45 years, survivors include a daughter Maura Zimmerman and husband Andrew of Weston, MA, a son Patrick Clark and wife Emily of Trumbull, a proud "Papa John" to his four grandchildren, William and Maeve Zimmerman and Abigail and Elizabeth Clark. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 9:30 am, meeting directly in Notre Dame of Easton Church, 655 Morehouse Road, Easton, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Union Cemetery, Easton. Friends may call Friday from 4 pm to 7 pm in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
