John G. Froatz, age 90 of Bridgeport, passed away, Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. John was born in New York City, on September 25, 1920, son of the late Frederick and May O'Neil Froatz. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a 1950 graduate of Iona College, with a degree in business and was an employee with Sikorsky Aircraft. John was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters; Charles E. Froatz, Frederick Froatz (who died as an infant), Vincent E. Froatz, Cecil Froatz, and Gertrude Casey. He leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews. Uncle John's healthy life style was an inspiration. He was stoic, opinionated and very independent. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 11, 2010 at 11:00am, meeting directly in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be held Saturday, October 16, 2010, at 11:00am in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. Friends may call Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 2pm to 4pm in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
