John J. Harry Sr., age 90, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Martha A. Harry, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009 in his home surrounded by his loving family and his furry friends. Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, he had been a Trumbull resident for 52 years. John served four years in England during World War II, with the Airborne 82nd Division Paratroopers. He retired from Sikorsky Aircraft having worked in the fatigue lab and was owner since 1950 of Fair County Awning Company, Bridgeport and was later joined by his son Charles. John supported numerous charitable organizations and was a true animal lover, his dogs, cats and even strays would be looked after by John at his home and business. Survivors include his devoted children; son John Harry, Jr. and wife Kathi of Williamsburg, VA, son Michael Harry and wife Dianne of Bridgeport, daughters Mary Margaret Fratarcangeli and husband Vincent of Trumbull, Ann Marie and husband Dr. Anthony Masi of Shelton, son Joseph Harry and wife Leslie of Milford, son Charles Harry and wife Ellen of Stratford, twelve loving grandchildren; Joseph and wife Elaina Fratarcangeli and Nicole Fratarcangeli, Christopher, Susan, Michael Jr., Jennifer, Robert and wife Billiejo, John, Kathryn, Jacob, Rachel, and Joseph Harry Jr., five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister; Louis, Charles, and Margaret Harry. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 10:00am from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, and at 11:00am in St. Theresa Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, with full military honors. Friends may call Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in John's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to an animal shelter or rescue organization of your choice.
