John A. Karafa, age 83 of Bridgeport, formerly of Trumbull, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Ludlowe Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Fairfield surrounded by his loving family.  He was born March 15, 1942, in Bridgeport, a son of the late Jack and Anne (Onkey) Karafa.  John attended Bridgeport school systems and graduated from Central High School in 1960.  John owned and operated several businesses over the years including Lou's Food on Madison Avenue.

John enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and longtime cherished friends.  He always loved hearing of all his grandchildren's accomplishments.  He is survived by Georgina Karafa, his daughters Lori (Greg) Maxey, Wendy (Peter) Leszczak and son John (Gina) Karafa, grandchildren Meghan and Shannon Maxey, Adam, Owen and Erek Leszczak and John and Paul Karafa.  He is also survived by his sister Susan Stapleton and brother Jay (Pat) Karafa along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law Robert Stapleton.
