John D. Rich, age 64 of Bridgeport, devoted son of LaVerne Garvin Rich and the late Joseph L. Rich, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016 in his home. John was born in Bridgeport and a graduate of Central High School, class of 1969. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired as a firefighter for the City of Bridgeport, after twenty years of service. John was an avid sports fan especially of the Alabama Crimson Tide, and enjoyed researching his family's genealogy. Survivors in addition to his mother LaVerne of Bridgeport include; his brother Joseph R. Rich and wife Patricia of Huntington, two nephews Myles S. Rich and fiancée Adrienne of Shelton and Joseph P. Rich and wife Amber of Brookfield, four grandnieces Kaylie, Riley, Lily and Joey, his former wife and friend Marie Palmesi of Florida.  Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
