John W. Stephen, Sr., age 95, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 in St. Vincent's Medical Center.  Mr. Stephen was born June 27, 1916 in Bridgeport. John was the son of Edgar and Katherine Wagner Stephen. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Roe Stephen. He lived his entire life in Bridgeport before moving to Trumbull.  He was an avid skier, belonging for many years to the YMCA Ski Club. He was active in tennis, softball, bowling and played golf with his three brothers. He competed in several swimming events, including the swim from Seaside Park to Pleasure Beach. He worked at the Bridgeport Brass Company from 1938 to 1962.  He was predeceased by his brothers, William, James and Robert. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Frances Simmons Stephen; a daughter Gail Stephen (Randlett) of Bridgeport, a son; John William Stephen, Jr. and wife Lynn of Sun City Center, FL. Grandchildren Robin Randlett of Canton, OH; Stephen Michael Randlett of Milford; Karyn Vaivoda and her partner Mark Barrere of Southbury; Jennifer De Magistris and husband Jay of North Haven; great-grandchildren Kelly, Allison and Victoria Vaivoda, Adam Randlett, and Rebecca Chaisson; Victoria and Dylan DeMagistris. He is survived by step-children Elizabeth Resta and husband, Robert, and Fred Simmons and wife Mickail. Friends may call Wednesday May 16, from 5-7 p.m. in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Burial services will be private.
