John Robert Trautman, age 62 of Stratford, passed away suddenly on March 21, 2016 at Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Trautman was born on November 10, 1953 in Trumbull, son of the late Edwin F. Trautman, M.D. and Mildred B. Trautman. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Trumbull, and Fairfield University. He also received a master's degree from Fairfield University in environmental studies. He was an ecological consultant in the area. In addition to his late parents, he was also predeceased by a sister, Betsy Jane Trautman. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Trautman, and her partner, Regina Black, of Spring Hill, FL, Diane (Dee) Chiota and her husband John, of Trumbull, Susan T. Palmer of Guilford, and his brother, Edwin F. Trautman, (Ned) and his wife Janice, of Bethlehem, PA. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews and eighteen grandnieces and grandnephews, whom he cherished. John was a very gentle, quiet soul who loved all things in nature, especially Long Island Sound, preserving the sand dunes, travelling to Cape Cod and Maine, hiking and dog-sitting his favorite dogs, Storm and Bodie. He was witty and bright and loved telling humorous stories to the younger members of our family. He loved his family and especially loved our chaotic holiday get-togethers. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at St. Theresa's R.C. Church, Trumbull, at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
