Joseph J. Carter, age 54, of Bridgeport, passed away, Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Bridgeport Hospital. The life of Joe Carter that we all knew and loved was forever altered on August 19, 1995 with the death of his 13 year old son Daniel, may they now be together forever in peace. His sister and husband, nieces, and all other relatives and friends who loved him unconditionally, will forever remember him for his wit, generosity and good heartedness. This love he remained most grateful for. He was also predeceased by his parents Joseph L. and Dorothy Kirwin Carter and three brothers, William, Daniel, and Michael. Joe is survived by his beloved sister, Mary Briganti and husband Joseph of Old Saybrook, two nieces, Julie Starkey and husband Bill of Stratford, and Kara Briganti of Monroe, a grandnephew, William Starkey, IV, and Joe's daughter Kate Carter, and several other family members and friends. Joe retired after 30 years of service from SNET. He was a member of the New Haven Ski Club, member and past president of Bridgeport TELSO, union representative and shop steward for CUTW. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 9:15am, from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, and at 10:00am in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial.
