Joseph M. Tantalo Jr., age 63 of New Haven, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 41 years to Charlene A. Young Tantalo. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of Joseph Tantalo Sr. and the late Marguerite Duggan Tantalo. Joseph grew up in Trumbull and graduated from Trumbull High School, class of 1971. An avid corvette fan, Joe worked in construction for most of his life, but most importantly, he had a real passion for the arts, movies, performing, and especially, singing. Joe could always be found over the years, center stage, with a microphone in his hand at many family and friend gatherings singing with charisma and passion. Joe had a tremendous presence whenever he would sing for a crowd or tell one of his great stories; he always knew how to make you smile. Survivors in addition to his wife and father include two loving sons, Joseph P. Tantalo of New York City, Michael S. Tantalo of New Haven, two sisters Patricia Gallagher and Candace E. Whetstine, and his many nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother Marguerite, he was predeceased by his daughter Nicole, a brother James and a sister Joan Pihonak. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11am in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
