Joseph Richard Repay, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, 94, of Bridgeport, CT passed away peacefully Sunday, February 12th, with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 2nd, 1917 in Norwalk, CT. Joe enlisted into the Army on September 10th, 1940 and was ordered into federal service on September 16th of that year. He achieved the ranks of both Corporal and Staff Sergeant. After his time spent fighting for our country overseas he returned to the states in 1945, and joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars. When Joe returned home he spent several years working for Claude Neon before becoming a long-standing member of Local Union 488 of Bridgeport, CT. One of Joe's best qualities was that in his spare time, he would always lend a helping hand to those in need. On June 2nd, 1951 he married his wife of 60 years, Betty Zdyb Repay. There was little that Joe enjoyed in his life more than his suspenders and spending time with his family and close friends. He also enjoyed working outside, bowling, and traveling on the weekend to the family farm in Long Island, NY. He especially loved spending time with his cat, Lola. He accomplished a great deal in his 94 years which he was very proud of. He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Bridgeport, CT, oldest son, Richard Repay and wife, Ellen of Manchester, CT, and his youngest son, James Repay of Jamesport, NY and Sandra Repay. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Amy Repay-Deeb and her husband, Michael Deeb, and Christie Repay; all of Shelton, CT; and Nicholas, Alicia and Andrew Repay; all of Manchester, CT. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 10:00am meeting directly in St. Augustine Cathedral, 359 Washington Avenue, Bridgeport with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. Friends may call Tuesday 4-8pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. .
