Obituary

Joseph A. Sideleau, age 81 of Bluffton, South Carolina, beloved husband of the late Carol A. Reck Sideleau, died Friday, September 5, 2008, in South Carolina.  Joseph was born in Bridgeport, son of the late Antonio and Anna Sideleau.  He was an Easton resident for many years, before retiring to Arizona and then to South Carolina.  He was parts manager for the former Haynes Motors Chrysler – Plymouth and then Bridgeport Dodge, retiring from Perkin-Elmer.  Joseph was a U.S. Naval Veteran of World War II and the Korean War.  While living in Easton he was a member of the town's volunteer fire department and one of the founding members of Notre Dame Church.  Joseph enjoyed life, living it to its fullest.  In South Carolina, he was a member of the Sun City Computer and Photography Clubs, enjoyed golfing, detailed model shipbuilding, model railroading, the love of music, and had a great interest in aircraft and aviation.  Survivors include his loving children, a daughter Christine A. Cook, and her husband Michael of Newtown, his son Thomas J. Sideleau, and his wife Mary Ellen of Newtown, two sisters, Jeanette O'Neill and Pauline Mas, both of Shelton, grandchildren who he loved spending time with, special twins Carol and Michael Cook, also Jessica and Kaylee Sideleau, stepgrandchildren Diane Cook, Robert and Brian Metzler, and many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. direct at Notre Dame of Easton Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial.  Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, with full Military Honors.  Friends may call Friday, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to your favorite charity.
