Josephine V. Zaveruha, age 91, passed away in her home in Easton on Sunday, July 26, 2009. She was the widow of Victor A. Zaveruha, to whom she was married 50 years. The daughter of John and Mary Vernik, she was born and raised in Fairfield and was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School. She worked at City Trust prior to her marriage. A long time resident of Trumbull, she was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. Her life was centered on her family and her home and garden. She is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Zaveruha and her husband Glen Castore of Northfield, MN, Susan Zaveruha and her companion Russell Wickett of Easton, and Shirley Z. Thomas and her husband Danny Thomas of Haymarket, VA and by her two grandchildren, Allison Reeck and Matthew Castore of Minnesota. She is also survived by her brother, Thaddeus Vernik of Dunnellon, FL, and her sister, Lucy Cannon of Pearl, MS. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31st at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 5958 Main Street, Trumbull, CT 06611 with the Rev. Elsa Worth officiating. Interment will be at Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
