Julia Mary Yacher Massicotte, age 87 of Bridgeport, passed away suddenly and peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 14, 2012, in St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Guilford in 1924, she was the daughter of Andrew and Karolina Sulick Yacher, beloved wife of the late John Joseph Massicotte and daughter-in-law of the late John Joseph Massicotte of Bridgeport. A graduate of West Haven High School, Julia was employed by Chance Voight, A.S. Beck, D.M. Read's, and was an independent realtor. She was proud to be a lifelong volunteer especially for St. Vincent's and the Senior Citizen Tax Program of Bridgeport. Julia cherished being a mom and loved every moment with family and friends. A devout Catholic, her faith was the key to her positive influence and outlook on life. Julia was predeceased by her brother Stanley Yacher, and her sister Sophie Hunihan. Survivors include her loving children; sons, Joseph Massicotte and wife Deborah of Tampa, FL, John Massicotte and wife Theresa of Winsted; daughters, Joy Massicotte of Bridgeport, and Jill Massicotte-Barreto and husband Ron of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Joseph, Ashley, Lisa, Julia, and John; great grandchildren, Cameron and Easton; a sister Helen Brown of Hamden, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30a.m., from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, and at 10:30a.m. in St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Msgr.
