Obituary

Karen Rumsey passed away on August 19, 2026.

Born in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, Karen was the daughter of the late Lawrence T. Diehl and Catherine (Harnish) Diehl. She made her home in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, where she had lived since the 1980s. Over the course of more than four decades there, Sandy Hook became an important part of her life and the place where she established lasting friendships and connections within the community.

Karen worked at Weston Racquet Club and enjoyed many interests throughout her life. She especially enjoyed shopping, golfing, playing tennis, and spending time with friends playing bridge. In more recent years, she enjoyed spending time at the Newtown Senior Center and the friendships and activities she found there. She was an animal lover and had a special affection for the dogs that shared her life over the years.

Karen is survived by her two sons, Jeff and Chris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Diehl.

Karen will be remembered by those who knew her for the friendships she formed, the activities she enjoyed, and the many years she called Sandy Hook home. Her memory will live on in the lives of those who knew her throughout the years.

May she rest in peace.
