ON AS SCHEDULED.......Kenneth J. Miklus, age 82 of Fairfield passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 59 years of Lois A. Joyce Miklus. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late John and Helen Miklus. Ken was a graduate of Fairfield Prep Class of 1950 and received his bachelor's degree from Fairfield University in 1954, which was the first four-year graduating class. He was a senior engineer with Perkin Elmer and retired there after over 35 years with the company. During his career he was a contributor to the recently declassified Hexagon project, which was a key component in America winning the cold war. Ken's hobbies were numerous, he was an avid wood carver, and created many beautiful bird carvings. He enjoyed the outdoors, and especially loved sailing, he was a member of Fayerweather Yacht Club. Ken shared his leisure time playing golf with friends and family as well as the Smith Richardson Men's Golf League, he was also active in the Fairfield Grandfathers Bowling League. Ken a loving father and friend leaves in addition to his beloved wife, Lois include his loving children, Joyce Bakalar and her husband David, Kenneth Miklus Jr. and his wife Carol, and Karen Hanson and her husband Rick, grandchildren, Jason and Nicole Bakalar and Erica Hanson, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by sisters and brothers, Ann, Johanna, Margaret, John and Albert. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:15 from the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, and at 11:00am in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. Friends may call Monday 3-7pm at the funeral home.
