Kyu In Choi passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 92, due to complications from a stroke. Born on August 31, 1934, Wonju, Gangwon Do in South Korea, Kyu In was the second and only daughter among five other brothers of the late Ki Hyeong Choi and Ki Sook Won. She raised in Wonju and lived through Korean War afterwards she graduated Wonju Women High School and got a job as a bookkeeper. She supported her family and brothers through their education after the war. She then married Heung Woo Lee in 1960. They had three daughters together, Yeon Duk, Eun Sook and Eun Kyung Lee. She was a loving and devoted mother and a wife. She became a widow in 1992.She immigrated to America in February 1987 and resided in Trumbull and Bridgeport. She worked as a main interior decorating tailor for the Barn in Bridgeport and then as a tailor at Maple Cleaner in Westport to help support her youngest daughter through university whilst her two grown-up daughters remained in South Korea pursue their careers and got married. Kyu In (K.C.) eventually made her home at Silverbrook Estate in Orange, Connecticut, where she has lived since 2001. Over the course of more than 25 years there, Silverbrook Estate became an important part of her life and the place where she established lasting friendships and connections within the community. Kyu In worked and enjoyed many craft interests such as; knitting, cooking, and especially sewing and embroidery throughout her life. So much so during Covid, she made masks for friends, church and family members and all residents at Silverbrook Estate for free to give out to protect from the virus. It showed her love and care for others. She especially enjoyed making custom-made outfits for many family members and friends. In more recent years, she enjoyed spending time with the other residents at Silverbrook Estate and the friendships and activities she found there.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kueun, Kue Chang, Kue Tek, Kue Dong, Kue Byung and their wives.Kyu In will be remembered by her close family, those who knew her for the friendships she formed, the activities she enjoyed, and the many years she was called as “Everyone’s Gomo (Auntie)”. May she rest in peace with Jesus in Heaven.
