Latanya Johnson was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on November 18, 1977, to Gerdine Johnson and Anthony Wade Sr. She entered eternal rest on July 11, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.

Latanya Johnson grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and had a close-knit family. Throughout her life, she was known for her warm heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for her family and friends. LaTanya was always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She used to adore doing hair, but she has recently discovered a love of painting. Latanya's finest times were always when she was able to spend time with the people that made her the happiest, especially her grandson. Being a grandma brought her immense joy and fulfillment; she cherished every moment, creating memories and sharing stories with her grandson. She loved watching him grow and was proud to pass down her wisdom and love to the next generation. Tanya was an inspiration to many for her resilience and insight, her loss will be felt deeply.

Pre-deceased by father Anthony Wade and granddaughter Aniyah Hernandez. Survived by mother Geraldine Johnson and husband Jimmy Dicks; son Thomas Freeman; daughter Takyah Johnson; grandson Tobias Johnson; brothers David Johnson, Anthony Wade, Anthony Wade Jr; sisters Dominique Johnson, Ricketta Johnson, Dawn Sockwell, Niqua Wade; and nephew Devin Johnson and niece Jordan Johnson.
