Obituary

Laura C. Barnaby 92, of Monroe passed away on Wednesday October 21,2026 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Laura, who went by her middle name Corinne, was born on July 20, 1934, to Warren and Ruth Parcells of Fairfield. Educated in Fairfield, after finishing high school, she worked in the typing pool at Sikorsky aircraft.

She met her future husband Tom while square dancing, they married on August of 1957. They moved to Monroe in 1960 and were married until his passing in December of 1990. She was a stay at home mom for a number of years, until returning to work part time at Canfield Construction. She enjoyed many years of working there as a bookkeeper and secretary. She eventually went onto full-time work at several different businesses, including Kaylor's Shoes in Bridgeport, Briner's furniture also in Bridgeport, before retiring from Sodexo in Trumbull. After her retirement, she enjoyed helping other seniors with rides to doctors appointments and shopping errands. She did that for many years and took pleasure in just being able to help others.

She met her companion and soul mate on a blind date. Her and Mac had many good years together. They appreciated each other every day. Many trips did they enjoy, with the Easton Senior Center. Train trips out west and even to Europe. As travelling became a bit much, they enjoyed the simple things at home. Sharing time together was the true treasure. Mac passed away in March of 2015, yet his memory was with her always.

Corrine was predeceased by her husband Tom, her sister Barbara Westerman and her sole mate Mac McDonald. She is survived by her son John Barnaby and his wife Cheryl, her nieces Gwen, Pam and their families, her nephew Ted and their families. Her close friends, Candice, Kris and Eileen.

Friends may greet the family on Friday from 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and 4 Gorham Place, Trumbull, a prayer service will be conducted at 1:00p.m. with the Rev. Katharine Piazza, officiating. Interment will follow in Stepney Village Cemetery, Monroe.
