Leo G. Chateauneuf, age 74, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Sylvia Morando Chateauneuf, died suddenly Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Son of the late Ernest and Julienne Landry Chateauneuf, Leo was raised in Bridgeport and was active in scouting. He graduated from the carpentry program at Bullard - Havens Technical High School and attended the University of Bridgeport. Leo was a retired industrial model maker and formerly worked from 1951 – 1969 for Dictaphone Corp. A past member of the Fairfield County Fish and Game Club, he enjoyed outdoor activities, fishing, hunting and the seashore. An accomplished wood craftsman and carver, he created numerous bird carvings. Survivors in addition to his wife, include two loving daughters, Paula Chateauneuf and her longtime companion Pavlo Beznosiuk of London, England and Cora Singer and her husband David of Milford, a brother, Ernest Chateauneuf and wife Ann of Fairfield, a sister, Yvonne Ross and husband Charles of Fairfield, a beloved grandson, Andre Singer and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Jeannette Gabany and husband James. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call Friday, 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
