Obituary
Leonard J. Germano, of Trumbull, CT, passed away peacefully on August, 29, 2011 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born on November 17, 1935, he was the son of the late Dominic and Rose Germano, and is survived by his loving family: his wife Ann, his daughter Amy and her husband Shin, all of Trumbull, and his daughter Mary Ellen of Newtown; his cousins and their families: Joseph DeRosa of Stamford (who was like a brother to him), Rosemarie Quaranta of Fairfield, Rose (Honey) Profetto of Florida, and Becky Boccuzzi of Orange; his in-laws the McGann families of MA and CO; as well as many friends.
He grew up in Stamford and received his undergrad and graduate degrees from the University of Bridgeport. An educator at heart, he spent his entire career in the Trumbull Public School system – first as a teacher, then Coordinator of Distributive Education, Assistant Principal, "C" House Principal, Associate Principal, and Director of Continuing Education. At Trumbull HS he was a Cross Country and Track Coach, the first Yearbook Advisor, and a member of the Trumbull Boosters Club. Always involved in service organizations, he served as President of the Trumbull Exchange Club; and was Treasurer of the Trumbull Rotary Club at the time of his death, after previously serving as President and District Assistant Governor. He loved all sports, particularly H.S., and he enjoyed his affiliation with the F.C.I.A.C. Board of Directors as a League Advisor and Retired Coaches Coordinator.
Leonard is remembered by Teachers, Rotarians, and former students as a mentor who guided them through their early years. He loved fixing things, and solving problems. He will be greatly missed, and fondly remembered, by his family and his many, many friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00am meeting directly in Grace Episcopal Church, 5958 Main Street, Trumbull. Interment will be private. Friends may call Thursday 3:00pm – 7:30pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
