Louis D. Marchese, age 93 of Monroe died Saturday, December 29, 2007 in Danbury Hospital. Born in Bridgeport he was the son of the late Pasquale and Diamond Licursi Marchese and had been a Monroe resident for the past 15 years. Mr. Marchese was Senior Captain of the Connecticut State Police 1941-1971 responsible for the Western Connecticut Division. He worked at the Connecticut State Police Academy, was the first officer to work at all 11 State Barracks, and was a graduate of Northwestern University Traffic Institute January 1951. After his retirement in 1971, he was appointed First Chief of the Newtown Police Department. He retired again in 1987 as the State's Senior Police Officer for years of service. In his early years he was an accomplished athlete at Central High School in many sports, played and refereed professional soccer in the metropolitan area. Mr. Marchese was formerly a salesman for Phillip Morris Corporation and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his beloved son Martin L. Marchese of Greenwich and several loving nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Frank and Nicholas. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30am in St. Patrick's Church Bridgeport, Lower Chapel with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
