Lucille Marie Hopeck, (a.k.a. Diamond Lil from Stanton Hill) of Stratford passed away at St. Vincent's Medical Center on Friday, October 23, 2026. Lucille was born on November 9, 1942, in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Lottie Lushna Zasada. Lucille was a 1960 graduate of Mary Mount High School, she was employed by the State of Connecticut Department of mental health prior to her retirement. Lucille was a devout Catholic and was a member of Saint Mark's Church for over 50 years. She loved to travel, shop, decorate her home for holidays and love spending time with her son on cruises almost to the last two months of her life. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years Gerald S. Hopeck Sr, sister Bernadette Edukatis, brothers Joseph, Edward, Jr., and Henry Zasada. Lucille will be greatly missed by her son Gerald S. Hopeck, Jr. and daughter Barbara Hopeck Janulis and son-in-law Peter. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 29 at 10:00a.m., meeting directly in Saint Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m., in the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and 4 Gorham Place, Trumbull. Her family would like to thank Cardiology Associates, especially Dr. Eric Alter and the entire nursing staff at the heart failure clinic and the sixth floor of St. Vincent's Medical Center.
