Margaret McBride Fitzgerald age 74 of Stratford passed away Monday, October 19, 2009 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. She was the beloved wife of Jack Fitzgerald and the daughter of the late Bernard and Kathleen McCann McBride. Born in Bridgeport she was a resident of Cheshire for 36 years before moving to Oronoque Village, Stratford 13 years ago. Mrs. Fitzgerald received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Albertus Magnus College and was a teacher at Central High School in Bridgeport. She retired in 1989 as a loan officer for the Wepawaug Credit Union. She loved to play the piano, travel and spending time at their cottage at Lake Winnipesaukee. Margaret and her husband Jack celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on August 8th. She is also survived by her loving children, son Patrick Fitzgerald and his partner Danny Yu of San Francisco, CA, daughter Sally Fitzgerald Boyd and her husband Michael of Needham, MA, son John Fitzgerald and his wife Lisa of Cheshire, sister Kathleen Walsh of Shelton, four grandchildren, Brendan and Margaret Boyd, Sean Fitzgerald, and Declan Fitzgerald-Yu, and 16 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John McBride and sister Maureen Rhatigan.  Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00am meeting directly in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call Thursday 4-8pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
