Dr. Margaret M. O'Neil of Fairfield died Sunday, September 14, 2008, at home. Born in Bridgeport June 20, 1920, she graduated from St. Augustine's School in 1933 and Warren Harding High School in 1937, and from The Katherine Gibbs School in New York City. She then worked as a medical secretary at Yale New Haven Hospital. In 1946 she graduated from Temple University School of Chiropody in Philadelphia, PA., and opened a practice there. In 1951 she returned to Bridgeport and opened a practice that flourished for over 50 years. For the last 25 of those years she shared a Bridgeport practice on North Main Street with her dear sister Dr. Alyce R. O'Neil Muldoon. She was a member of the Fairfield County Podiatry Association and a parishioner of Our Lady of Assumption Church. Peggy was dedicated to her family and patients. She loved to travel and loved everything Irish. She is survived by her loving nieces Geraldine A. Muldoon of Fairfield, CT, Brigid M. Smith of Easton, CT, Mary Ellin Smith of Newton, MA, Meg Smith of Roslindale, MA, and Meg's partner Hillary Crane-Stern, and her loving nephew Dr. Lawrence D. Muldoon and his wife Meg Sweeney Muldoon; great-nephews Dan and Jack Muldoon, Adam Muldoon Safi and Max Smith-Stern; great-nieces Molly, Kate and Nan Muldoon, and Grace Ann Yi Smith. She was predeceased by her brother Dr. John J. O'Neil and sister Kay O'Neil Smith. Her sister Dr. Alyce R. O'Neil Muldoon died on Wednesday, September 17, 2008. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 851 North Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. 06606, and a celebration will follow. Interment will be private.
