Obituary

Margaret Lee MacKenzie (Peggy), of Fairfield passed away Friday, October 24, 2008 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Roderick J. MacKenzie. Peggy was born in Bridgeport to Bernard and Frances Lee on December 2, 1921. Peggy was a graduate of Albertus Magnus College and worked at Remington Arms in Bridgeport during the war. She resided in Fairfield for all her married life. Peggy was a volunteer for many charities including the American Cancer Society, Visiting Nurses Association and the Southport Women's Exchange. She was a member of the Fairfield Historical Society, the Home and Garden Club of Eastern Fairfield County, the Contemporary Club and served as a commissioner on the Town of Fairfield Golf Commission. She was a lifelong member of Brooklawn Country Club, her second home where she served on multiple committees, was an avid golfer and so loved her friendships from her weekly bridge games. Peggy is survived by her loving children, Roderick J. MacKenzie, Jr. of Menlo Park, California, Malcolm MacKenzie and his wife, June of Fairfield, Missy Cumings and her husband, Michael of Huntington, David MacKenzie and his wife, Mary of Fairfield, her son-in-law, Robert Murray of Newtown, her grandchildren, Meghan Walstatter and her husband, Matthew and Kate MacKenzie, Robert Murray, Lee Moore and her husband, Doug, Kerry Murray, Anna Zamat and her husband, Michael, Alyson MacKenzie and her husband, Alex Karnath and Mallory MacKenzie, Ian, Maggie, Douglas and Elizabeth Cumings, David, Alexander, John and Kelsey MacKenzie and five great grandchildren, Abigail, Matthew and Lindsey Moore, Samuel Mac Zamat and Daniel Murray Fonck and several nieces and nephews. Peggy was predeceased by her daughter, Isabelle MacKenzie Murray and her sisters, Virginia O'Brien, Betty Jane Gowell, Barbara Ferrio and her brother, Bernard Lee. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield, CT. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call Sunday 2-7pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
