She loved unconditionally, nurtured expansively and faced every adversity in life with a firm belief in the goodness and love of the Lord. Her friends were her friends for life and she treasured each of them. In her professional life she walked an amazing path retiring as an assistant clerk of the Superior Court in Bridgeport. When her youngest grandchild went to college, this self-proclaimed "depression child" decided it "was her time" and enrolled in Housatonic Community College receiving her degree at the age of 81. Nanny to not only her grandchildren but to their many friends, she was always there for everyone with a kind word, ready to celebrate each achievement in their lives and to remind them to "keep that chin up." We will miss her twinkling eyes, her wonderful sense of humor and her fierce love for each of us but we all know how blessed we were to have her with us for 97 wonderful years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Marguerite Sullivan Dunigan Scholarship Fund at Housatonic Community College, Office of College Advancement, 900 Lafayette Boulevard, Bridgeport, CT 06604, which her family established in her honor upon her graduation. At her request, the proceeds of the scholarship funds are to be used to assist single mothers who are working towards their degrees. The family would like to acknowledge her dedicated caregivers, especially Sharon Alderman, Megan O'Donnell and Sue Nowicki, as well as her devoted neighbor Roland Wright.
