Maria Elise Liesel Zimmermann, age 101, of Riverview Drive in Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Maria's husband Karl Zimmermann predeceased her as did her parents and 11 siblings. She is survived by her daughter Hedy Mosier who has cared for her for the last 2 1/2 years and her daughter's very good friend Brian Berry.  As the last remaining aunt, she leaves a host of nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews in Germany. Maria came to the US at the age of 27 to marry her childhood sweetheart, Kar who came to America at the age of 19. Maria was a stay-at-home mom; she enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed by all.  Her prayers over the last several months to be with the Lord have been answered. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 18, 2012 at 2:00p.m. in the Black Rock Congregational Church, 3685 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield. There will be a reception at the Zimmermann residence on Riverview Drive in Bridgeport immediately following the service. Interment will be private.
