Obituary

Marie Etta Kellogg (July 31, 1925-October 12, 2012) a lifelong Monroe resident, wife of the late Charles E. Kellogg, daughter of the late Leonard and Velma Curtiss, passed away on October 12th at age 87 with much of her loving family by her side.   A graduate of Bassick High School, she was employed by The Bridgeport Brass Company as a secretary before her marriage. She then became a devoted homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family and beloved pets.  She will be dearly missed by her children and their families, as well as other relatives and friends. She grew up on her parent's farm in Monroe, loved the land that she grew up on, and was active in the Harmony Grange #92.  She was on the Board of the Cutler's Farm Cemetery Association.   She did not like to travel, so her home, which was built by her late husband, was where she always preferred to be.   She will be remembered for her beautiful flowerbeds, her pride and joy, which people admired while driving past her Elm Street home. Marie is survived by three sons and their wives: Charles G. and Ruth Kellogg, of Hatfield, MA, their children Gretchen Adamski and Caroline Kellogg; Donald A. and Sharon Kellogg of Watkins Glen, NY, their children Jay Shaeffer, John Kellogg, Jamie Snell, Jeffrey Kellogg, Jim Kellogg, Joanne Brutsman, Jeremy Kellogg, and Amy Scholtisek; Richard C. and Mary Lou Kellogg of Monroe, CT, their children Melissa, Michelle, and Richard P. Kellogg; and daughter in-law Debbie Kellogg of Oxford, CT.  She also leaves behind twenty five great grandchildren, and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.  She was predeceased by her loving son, Milton L. Kellogg, whom she dearly missed. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Maefair Health Care Center for the compassion and care provided to Marie and her family during her stay there. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 19th at 10:30 am at The Monroe Congregational Church in Monroe on the Monroe Green. Interment will follow in Cutler's Farm Cemetery in Monroe.   Friends may call Thursday, October 18th 5:00 to 8:00pm at the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, CT.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice.
