Marion "Jewel" Locke, age 87, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Bernard R. Locke, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010, at the Jewish Home for the Elderly. Jewel was born in New Rochelle, daughter of the late Irving H. and Beatrice Thomas Johnson. She served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, the first naval wave out of Bridgeport. While in the Navy were she was a aviation machinist mate she met her future husband Bernard and worked on the plane of Ted Williams, among others. She was a former member of the V.F.W. She took great pride in raising her children and helping raise her grandchildren. Survivors include her loving and devoted children, Thomas B. Locke of Gambrills, MD, Patricia A. Jaiman of Bridgeport, Brian J. Locke and wife Joy of Oxford and Laura J. Larocque and husband Robert of Stratford, a brother, Edward Johnson and wife Barbara of Furlong, PA, two sisters, Rita Wickert of Bridgeport and Barbara Roche of Fairfield, sister-in-law, Doris Johnson of Old Lyme, eight grandchildren, T.J. Locke, James Locke, Erin Locke, Kristin Stacy, Joseph Locke, Leah Jaiman, Michael Locke and Caitlyn Locke, three great grandchildren, Katie, Thomas and Samuel Locke; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Irving T. Johnson and a sister, Patricia Gladchuk. Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 9:00 am from the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and at 10:00 am in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Stratford. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, 4:00 – 8;00 pm.
