Mary-Agnes Farrington (née McCarthy), 63, of Fairfield, passed away suddenly on August 19th. Born in Bridgeport on July 6, 1963, Mary-Agnes was born to Daniel and Karen McCarthy and grew up with 5 brothers. She attended Assumption School and Andrew Warde High School.
About 50 years ago, Mary-Agnes met Doug who would later become her first love and husband of 44 years. Together, they raised two children, Laura (Ed), of Fairfield, and Ryan (Matt), of Southborough, MA. Laura and Ed blessed her with her favorite oldest grandson Brian, her best granddaughter ever Bridget, and her favorite youngest grandson Patrick (who live across the street and she got to see every day!); Ryan and Matt blessed her with late night chats at the dining room table over a few glasses of wine as often as they could visit.
About 25 years ago, Mary-Agnes returned to school to begin her career as an RN - first as a bedside nurse, then a visiting nurse, and lastly a work-from-home nurse. And after a quarter century of marriage, hard work, and putting their kids first, Doug was finally able to get her an engagement ring, and she wasn’t even upset about him spending the money.
Mary-Agnes was pre-deceased by her parents and three of her brothers: Kevin, Brian, and Dennis. She is survived by her husband, kids and grandkids, her brothers Chris and John, and countless friends and family - including several nieces and nephews, some of whom loved her like a grandmother. That feeling was mutual.
Mary-Agnes loved genuinely and, as a result, maintained an impressive number of life-long friendships. We take comfort in knowing how truly loved she was by all who had the fortune of knowing her.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 26, at 9:30a.m., meeting directly in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m., in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral home, Main Street and 4 Gorham Place, Trumbull.
