Obituary

Mary R. Paumi Butler, age 69, formerly of Bridgeport, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011. Mary was born in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Joseph and Carmella Bonitatibus Paumi. She was a graduate of Central High School and worked in retail sales in downtown Bridgeport, receiving recognition for top in sales at Howland's Department Store. Mary moved to Bangor, ME with her former husband who was stationed there with the U.S. Air Force and upon returning to this area lived in Sandy Hook for 20 years. Moving back to Bridgeport to live with her family, she operated a successful one person residential cleaning service, before becoming disabled due to illness. Mary then moved to the Clifford House, Bridgeport, for 19 years, making many friends and some of the happiest memories of her life. Her hobbies included American Indian culture, history, artifacts and issues. She also  supported several environmental groups. Survivors include her loving sisters and brothers; Joanne R. Paumi and Esther M. Paumi, both of Bridgeport and Joseph Paumi III and wife Cheri of Eaton Rapids, MI and David Paumi and wife Denise of Danbury, four nieces and nephews and one grandniece and 3 grandnephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, at 11:00am, in the Redgate – Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, with Fr. Alfonso Picone officiating. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday morning after 10:00 am
