Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Drank Prokop, age 97 of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Charles Paul Prokop, Sr. and mother of the late Marybeth Goodman, died peacefully with her children at her side on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 in her home. Born in Bridgeport daughter of the late Anna and John Drank and was a graduate of Harding High School. Mrs. Prokop attended New Britian School of Hair Design, and prior to raising her family she worked as a hair stylist with her sister Helen in Westport. Betty and Charlie were inseparable through 69 years of marriage loving and caring for their six children as they witnessed the family grow to nine grandchildren and eventually seventeen great grandchildren. A lot of mouths to feed "Mother Mary" was an excellent cook and shared her Czechoslovakian recipes with family and friends. During the holidays her house was always full of grand and great grandchildren there for the treats, sweets and kisses from grandma Betty. Every summer included a family camping trip which all began with a homemade trailer resembling a covered wagon. With six children they really went old fashion camping traveling to campgrounds throughout New York and New England. With dad driving ma would haul six kids, some in diapers off to the beach, the zoo and frequently a family picnic at one of the nearby parks. A beautiful woman and loving mother has left us to once again rejoin her husband in heaven, who she missed so dearly and will now be missed by those she leaves behind, which include her loving children, Charles P.
