Mary E. Hurley Siwy, age 97, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Louis Siwy, died Friday, April 12, 2013 in Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Born in Bridgeport, Mrs. Siwy was a resident of Bridgeport most of her adult life. She was an Army officer's wife and traveled thru the entire United States and experienced living in all different states with her husband. Mary helped to start the East End Little League. She was involved in cub scouts and wrote the theme song used for the Cub Scouts and Girl Scout troops for the East End in Bridgeport. She was a volunteer for a number of worthy organizations. Mary loved to write poetry and had a beautiful singing voice. In her youth she was a terrific athlete. She was approached to join the state duck pin bowling team and once scored a hole-in-one at a Bridgeport golf course. She worked for Fairfield Laboratories in Bridgeport and as a medical secretary for Dr. Frederick Kinder who was the head of obstetrics for St. Vincent's Medical Center until his retirement. She was well loved by the patients. Survivors include two devoted and loving sons; Matthew L. Siwy of Bridgeport, and Kenneth J. Siwy and wife Priscilla of Stratford, a daughter-in-law Nancy Siwy of Derby, three grandchildren; Eric, Steven and Kathleen Siwy, who Mary loved and cherished, and several very close and loving cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters; Frances Hurley Augustine and Helen Hurley Stuart, and a devoted nephew Richard Connors. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m., meeting directly in Our Lady of Good Counsel Chapel, 163 Ortega Avenue, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Polish National Cemetery, Stratford.
