On Saturday, December 10, 2022, Mary Elizabeth (Betsey) Stutz, 171 Canoe Brook Road, Trumbull, lost her battle with cancer while in hospice care at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport.

Betsey was born in New Haven on October 28, 1958, to Richard G. Stutz and Mary Elizabeth Day Stutz.  She graduated from Trumbull High School in 1976, and received a B.A. in occupational therapy from the University of Kansas in 1981.

She practiced occupational therapy for more than 30 years in Kansas and in Connecticut.  More recently she had dedicated her time to volunteer counseling at various local community centers, sharing her wisdom acquired through vast experience, her kindness, and her remarkable gift for connecting with people of all backgrounds and ages.

Betsey will be remembered fondly by her family and friends for her enthusiasm and zany sense of humor, her fierce and unshakable independence, and especially for her warmth, kindness and compassion.

Betsey was predeceased by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Day Stutz, of Trumbull, and a brother, Thomas Richard Stutz, of Woodbridge, Virginia.  She is survived by her father, Richard G. Stutz of Trumbull, two brothers, Robert E. Stutz of Lake Forest, IL, and James R. Stutz of Trumbull, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private memorial service.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Betsey's name to the Smilow Cancer Center, Yale New Haven Hospital.
