Mary Ann Weiss, age 88, of Leesburg, Florida, and Acton, Maine, entered eternal life on September 22, 2026, in Biddeford, Maine. She was the daughter of the late William J. and Mary P. Letsch.

Mary Ann is survived by her son, Rudolf Weiss (Janet), and daughter, Allison Yao; her grandchildren, Erika Yao (Chris), Andrew Yao, Matthew Yao, and Stephen Cagliostro (Martha); her great-grandchildren, Wesley, Teddy, and Cora; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and a son who died shortly after birth.

Mary Ann spent most of her life in the Stratford and Trumbull, Connecticut, area. She co-owned the Windmill Restaurant for many years, and she later retired from Cornwall & Patterson in Bridgeport.

Many will remember Mary Ann for her wonderful cooking, her ability to host a memorable party, her talent for decorating and her beautiful gardens. She wished to be remembered for the legacy she created in her family and for her beautiful home in Maine, which she established as a place for generations of family to enjoy.

She was deeply grateful for everyone who supported and cared for her, allowing her to continue traveling between Florida and Maine even when she could no longer make the journey independently. She could not have been more proud of all that her children and grandchildren accomplished, or more appreciative of the care they provided as her health declined in her later years. Mary Ann was also grateful for the many friends she made from Maine to Florida who became like family.

The family extends its sincere thanks to the many caregivers over the years who served as her aides, therapists, and nurses. The staff at the Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, ME were amazing in her final days.

Friends may greet the family in the Redgate–Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Stret and 4 Gorham Place, Trumbull, on Friday, October 2, from 11:00a.m. to 2:00p.m., with a brief service beginning at 1:30p.m. Burial will follow immediately at Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Ann’s memory to the American Lung Association.
