Obituary

MaryAnn T. Cook

There are people who simply exist in the world, and there are those who quietly transform it through the way they love, serve, and care for others. MaryAnn T. Cook belonged unmistakably to the latter.

On June 18, 2026, surrounded by love, MaryAnn T. Cook passed away at the age of 76, leaving behind a legacy measured not by titles or possessions, but by the countless lives she touched with her compassion, generosity, resilience, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.

MaryAnn was born on April 20, 1950 in Bridgeport, CT and remained a life-long resident where she built a life defined by grace, strength, and purpose. She possessed a rare ability to make every person she encountered feel welcomed, every child feel cherished, and every friend feel like family. Her kindness was never performative—it was simply who she was. She gave freely of her time, her wisdom, and her heart, expecting nothing in return.

She believed that people deserved kindness, that hard work mattered, and that love was something best demonstrated through actions rather than words.

MaryAnn took great pride in being a hard worker. She worked at GE and Trumbull Printing for many years, as well as at New Beginnings Family Academy, where she built many memories and touched the lives of a lot of people. But, her favorite job of all, was taking care of her family.

MaryAnn loved music, playing cards and dominoes, and she loved the Miami Dolphins. But there’s nothing she loved more than her family. She never had too many friends because she considered all her friends to be family.

Those fortunate enough to know her will remember her for her grit, determination, boldness, and the way she could make you laugh like no other. She had a gift for making ordinary moments extraordinary. Her laughter could brighten a room, her advice could calm an anxious heart, and her embrace offered comfort that words often could not. She celebrated the successes of others consistently, carried burdens without complaint, and remained steadfast through life’s greatest challenges.

MaryAnn Cook’s greatest accomplishment was the life she built and the example she set. She taught those around her the value of compassion, integrity, perseverance, loyalty, and most importantly: unconditional love. Her influence extends far beyond the years she lived, continuing in the values she instilled and the memories she created with those she loved.

She is survived by her one and only son, Corey Cook, her grandchildren: Karissa, Corey, and Karina Cook, and her most prized great-grandbaby, Sara Ava Sanchez.

She is also survived by her siblings, Angela Julian and Dominick Mauro Jr.(Margaret); her nieces, Denise Julian (Lily), Laura Vega (Pedro Jr. & Anthony), Karen Lynn (Rhiannon & Skylar); and her nephews, Dominick Mauro III & Anthony Mauro.

She is predeceased by her father, Dominick Mauro Sr., mother, Frances (D’Amato) Mauro, brother, Bonaventura “Bon” Mauro, and nephew, Christopher Mauro.

While her family mourns an immeasurable loss, they also celebrate a life exceptionally well lived. Her love became the foundation upon which remarkable lives were built, and her memory will continue to guide those fortunate enough to have known her.

The measure of a life is not found in the number of years lived, but in the love left behind. By that measure, MaryAnn lived an extraordinary life, and her legacy will endure for generations to come.

We invite all family and friends whose lives were touched by MaryAnn to join us on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Directors, located at 4 Gorham Pl - Trumbull, CT 06611.

Visiting hours will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Together, we will celebrate a life beautifully lived, a heart that loved without limits, and a legacy that will continue to live on in every person who had the pleasure to have known her.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you take the time to honor MaryAnn the way she honored others: call someone you haven’t spoken to in a while but have been meaning to call, hug the people you love a little tighter, and make time to visit someone who could use your company. Those simple acts of love were the way she lived every day. Love generously, forgive freely, and never take time together for granted.

May we all strive to leave the world a little kinder, a little warmer, and a little more connected because MaryAnn T. Cook was here. Her story doesn’t end here. It lives on in every life she touched.
