Michael Peter Barbieri age 79 of Fairfield, beloved husband of 59 years to Marie Anziano Barbieri died Tuesday morning June 10, 2008 surrounded by his family. Born in Bridgeport on September 2, 1928 he was the son of the late Dominick and Amilia Trevella Barbieri. He graduated early from Bassick High School so he could enlist in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served as a Seaman First Class about the Carrier U.S.S. Antietam. Michael and his father formed D. Barbieri and Son Construction and he was a successful builder for close to 60 years. A man of faith he was an active parishioner and usher at Our Lady of the Assumption Church Fairfield all of his life. He enjoyed following sports but enjoyed most of all spending time and being involved with his family which gave him great pleasure. He is survived by his wife Marie, loving daughters, Barbara Giaquinto of Monroe, Diane and Barry Butler of Fairfield, Michelle Barbieri and David Favale of Fairfield, Janet and Jeff Gannon of Sherborn, MA, grandchildren, Michael Barbieri Giaquinto of Los Angeles, CA, Barbara Marie Butler of Fairfield, Abigail Gannon and Matthew Gannon of Sherborn, MA., brothers-in-law, John Ciaffone of Trumbull, Felix and Kathy Anziano of Fairfield, sister-in-law, Carmella DeMercurio of MA, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30am directly in Our Lady of the Assumption Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
