IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael P.
Curry
November 14, 1978 – December 4, 2022
Michael P. Curry, age 44, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Kelly Nilan Curry. Born in Bridgeport on November 14, 1978, Michael was the youngest child of John and Mary Curry and a longtime resident of Trumbull. Like his father, he was a dedicated educator for Trumbull Public Schools.
After graduating from the University of Connecticut and completing his Masters in Education from the University of Bridgeport, Michael found himself a distinguished Science teacher at Madison Middle School and Trumbull High School. During his tenure, he earned his Administrative degree and was renowned for furthering and developing his department's curriculum.
Michael's hobbies and interests were vast and varied. He was a Lifelong Learner that enjoyed the outdoors and music, coupled with an uncanny ability to create, craft, mend or troubleshoot most everything. His penchant for fixing things knew no limits, and although the could wrench on just about anything, be it a lawn mower or an old pickup truck, his magnum opus will forever be a ground-up custom-build of his fully restored, classic CJ-7 Jeep. Michael was an accomplished guitarist who cherished jamming with his high school band mates in his basement music studio. His catalogue ranged from blues to metal but his go-to set list was comprised primarily of classic grunge.
Michael was blue collar to the bone but he was also cultured and intelligent. Just as he could expound on the devastating effects of the Emerald Ash Borer, Michael could just as impressively take a chainsaw to the fallen ash tree blocking the road, drag it out of the way and process it into perfectly split firewood. To know Michael was to know he ground his own coffee, he made his own hot sauce, he shucked his own oysters, he cleaned his own gutters, and he certainly shoveled his own driveway along with a few others.
In addition to his wife and parents, Michael is survived by his sisters and brothers, Karen and Paul Kaplita, Jack and Maureen Curry, Sheila Donahue, Suzanne and Craig Schultz, and Joe Curry, his many nieces and nephews and his dog, Tucker.
