Pauline Francis "Smiler" Brosnan passed away on December 1, 2014 at Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fairfield with her daughter, Kathleen Brosnan Hickling by her side. A former resident of Hamden, CT, Smiler moved to Trumbull in 2006 to be closer to her daughter. She spent the past eight years as a resident of Middlebrook Farms in Trumbull. Mrs. Brosnan is pre-deceased by her husband, Raymond G. Brosnan, and her daughter, Darlene B. Haselwood. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen B. Hickling of Easton. She was proud to have had four grandchildren: Barrett Haselwood; Devin Haselwood; Nancy Hickling Sulovski and Scott Hickling. Smiler and her husband Ray led a quiet life. She was probably the happiest when spending time at their lake house on Sunrise Lake in New Hampshire. She loved visits from her grandchildren, who have great memories of spending time there hunting for the loons, watching old movies, Brio train sets, and swimming in the lake. She enjoyed collecting all sorts of things and was most proud of her china collections, and was always ready to serve a cup of tea. Pauline "Smiler" Brosnan fought a mighty battle with Alzheimer's for the past eight years. She loved music to the end and could be found most any day dancing in the halls at Middlebrook. She loved big band music, Frank Sinatra and anything related to Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang. The family wishes to thank Middlebrook Farms in Trumbull for providing a caring home for her. Mostly, we would like to thank Life Choice Hospice for being there when we needed you. Funeral services will be private. Memorial gifts can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
