Ralph J. Catanese, age 77, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Muriel O. Wilson Catanese, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Catanese was born in Mineola, Long Island, son of the late John and Carmela Devanzo Catanese and has resided in Trumbull since 1968. A retired postal inspector for the United States Postal Service; he attended Hofstra University and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a dedicated member of the Trumbull Congregational Church, where he served as a deacon, trustee, choir member, and was involved in many other ways at the church. Mr. Catanese's memberships included the Masonic Order, Washington Lodge No. 19 A.F. & A.M., Monroe, Temple Lodge No. 65 A.F. & A.M., Westport, Eastern Star Lady Martha Chapter No. 103,Monroe, Trumbull A.A.R.P., Trumbull American Legion Post 141, National Association of Retired Postal Inspectors, Literacy Volunteers of America and numerous Masonic groups throughout the area. Survivors include two loving sons, Richard Catanese and his wife Judith of Trumbull and Paul Catanese and his wife Lisa of Bolton, a brother John Catanese and his wife Ysa of Smithtown, Long Island, six grandchildren, James Ralph, Kristina, Amy, Michael, Emma and Andrew, two nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by a brother Pat Catanese of Smithtown, Long Island. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. directly in the Trumbull Congregational Church, with the Rev. Matthew B. Braddock, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery of Easton.
