Raymond J. "Mike" Plouffe, Sr., beloved husband of Joan E. Plouffe, entered into our Lords arms on Tuesday, July 26 at St. Joseph's Center with his family at his side. Born on January 10, 1930 in Bridgeport, he was the first of Raymond and Viola Plouffes' seven children...Raymond ("Mike"), Vivian Fattibene (deceased), Robert "Dick" (deceased), Daniel Plouffe (deceased), Delores Roche, Susan Dorsey and Janice Wallace. He grew up in Fall River, MA and the west-end and then French-Canadian section of Bridgeport, attending St. Anthony's School along with his siblings, cousins and long-remembered friends. His clear memories of his grandfather Isiah Roy, passing at age 102 (as one of the first residents of St. Josephs Manor), his grandmother Phoeba Antaya Roy of French-Indian heritage. He graduated from Fairfield Prep, Fairfield University, served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and following his service, graduated from the University of Connecticut. He spent the next 55 years in the insurance business, beginning with Metropolitan Life Ins. Co, American Mutual Ins. Company and as an independent agent since 1973. His clients were as familiar to him as his family, knowing them by first names, understanding and representing them to the fullest all those many years. He had a strong singing voice, loved musical theatre, often singing along with music with a great smile on his face. He was a talented artist – a marvelous carver of ducks and birds…passing great and cherished treasures on to his beloved family. His love of nature and all God's creatures had no bounds. St. Francis had a good soldier on earth in Raymond. Many a baby robin, squirrel, and turtle were nursed back to health by his hand. His constant companions (all rescued with love) Lady, Dusty, Missy, Misty, and Tula will be happy to see him in Heaven. Through his convalescing years his memory vague, he remembered his prayers – his hands folded and conversing with our Lord. His trust and love in Jesus. In addition to his wife of 59 years, Joan he is survived by his cherished children and grandchildren, Jocelyn Paoletta (husband Joe, children Jordan and Jonathan, puppy Jenny), Raymond Plouffe (children Jessica and David, puppies Max and Maggie), Elisa Pritchard (husband Gene and puppies Gabe, Otis, Wiley, and Ryver).
